Drug and/or alcohol use is STRICTLY PROHIBITED. Any weapons for use at the firing range must be pre-approved and will be used at the firing range only. No other weapons allowed (paintball guns, pellet guns and BB guns are prohibited).
At the pool, the Safe Swim Defense Plan of the Boy Scouts will be used for safe swimming.
Qualified Supervision. Experienced adult leader must supervise all activity in, on, or around the pool.
The adult leader must know the physical condition of all participants and must adjust their supervision, discipline, and protection to anticipate any potential risks associated with individual health conditions.
Safe Area - Never swim in an area that has not been inspected and prepared for safe swimming. Depth, bottom and perimeter hazards, water quality and clarity, access control and traffic.
Lifeguards on duty. Trained and specially equipped lifeguards must be on duty whenever anyone is in the pool.
Lookout. The supervisor or someone he or she appoints must be positioned where they can see and hear everything in the pool.
Ability. Each participants swimming ability must be evaluated, and each participant is limited to the swimming area, and activity that suits his or her ability.
Buddy System. Never swim alone. Each person shall have a buddy who always knows where each buddy is.
Discipline. All swimmers must know and respect the rules, and always follow direction from the lifeguards, supervisor and camp range.
There is no swimming allowed in the lake. Life jackets will be used in all boating activities. Anyone seen in a boat without a life-jacket will be subject to expulsion along with that group. Canoeing is allowed only to swimmers with lifejackets. If you can’t swim, you can’t be in a canoe.
Blanton Forest State Nature Preserve Rules
Preserve is open sunrise to sunset.
Trails are open to foot-traffic only. Please stay on the trail so that other visitors don’t get lost following a new path that your feet have made.
Horseback riding, bike riding, climbing, and rappelling are not permitted in nature preserves because of their destructive impacts to the trails and natural features. Motorized vehicles are not permitted.
Possession of firearms, drugs or alcohol is prohibited.
Please leave the things that catch your eye to do the same for the visitor who hikes after you. Collecting, hunting and trapping are prohibited.
Camping, picnicking, building fires, radios/tape decks, and pets are not permitted in nature preserves.
